Hutchinson's Popular & Illustrated Dog Encyclopaedia was first published by Hutchinson & Co., Ltd., in 1929: like many books of its day was published in weekly parts.
It would seem that initially they were not sure how many parts there were to be, as on the front covers of the early magazines it says "in about 50 weekly parts".
In the end there were fifty six parts comprising 1990 pages with over 2,000 illustrations.

Complete copies of the "book" in their bound folder now change hands at prices ranging as high as three hundred pounds or more.

It could be safely described as a labour of love, and proved to be immensely popular, however one must bear in mind that while many of the old remedies hold good still, there have been many advances in the world of Veterinary Science, in diagnosis and treatment, and you should always consult contemporary professional advice
