CPU Speed Menu 1.3

CPU Speed Menu - Switch between different performance settings of your computer's CPU
It is no longer necessary to open System Preferences, navigating to the Energy Saver pane and selecting the Options item.

CPU Speed Menu allows you to switch between the different performance settings of your computer by a single mouse click.

This is helpful for users who must switch between different speed settings very often, for example when temporarily performing processor-intensive tasks. Switching manually to a speed which meets your current needs best can improve battery load on portable computers, or avoid noise problems with cooling fans and power supply units on desktop computers.

Main features of CPU Speed Menu:

  • Switch processor performance by a single mouse click.
  • CPU Speed Menu consumes almost no space on your screen. A small, clickable icon in the menu bar is enough.
  • Automatic detection which performance settings are supported by your computer.
  • The application does not consume any processing power.
  • Two different icon sets can be used to display the current speed setting.
  • In contrast to similar applications, CPU Speed Menu can detect reliably if running applications are blocking the processor performance setting.
  • Switching permanently to reduced power can be disabled if desired.

    Requirements of CPU Speed Menu:

  • It can be used on all Macintosh computers which support variable processing speeds. This includes all portable computers, as well as most G5 systems.

    Limitations of CPU Speed Menu:

  • The application will quit itself after running five (5) minutes.
  • A demo mode panel will appear each time you launch the application.

    What's New in This Release:

  • Added user preference to restrict the application to toggle between the speed settings Highest and Reduced only.
  • Added support for future power management features which will be available in Mac OS X Leopard or later.
  • Added support for new technologies available in Mac OS X Leopard.
