Introduction of Limewire and FrostWire

Limeiwire - LimeWire is a free peer-to-peer file sharing (P2P) client for the Java platform, which uses the Gnutella network to locate files as well as share files. It also encourages the user to pay a fee, which will then give the user access to LimeWire PRO. Recently LimeWire opened its own store.

FrostWire - FrostWire is a peer-to-peer file sharing program for the Gnutella and BitTorrent protocols. FrostWire is written in Java, and is a fork of LimeWire, another popular Gnutella client. Released under the GNU General Public License, FrostWire is free software.



Similarities of LimeWire and FrostWire


1. LimeWire and FrostWire are pree-to-peer files.


2. Both of LimeWire and FrostWire use the gnutella network.


3. LimeWire and FrostWire have the same functions.

4. Platform

Written in the Java programming language, LimeWire is able to run on any computer with Java Virtual Machine installed.

As with LimeWire, FrostWire is written in Java, and is therefore capable of supporting multiple platforms.



Differences between LimeWire and FrostWire


1. Search results

Although Limewire’s search speed was slower than Frostwire, it had a lot more search results than Frostwire.


2. Frostwire is bascially a clone of limewire.

FrostWire and other Gnutella variations are here as a result of LimeWire's development.


3. Different download servers.

They access different download servers. Frostwire accesses the Bit Torrent network, while Limewire accesses the Gnutella Network.


4. Versions

LimeWire has two versions, a freeware version and a purchasable "enhanced" version are available. While FrostWire is released only as a free version.
