"I inadvertently managed to save a report as the template for a new blank document. Then everytime I open a blank document I'm forced to erase the report in order for it to actually be a blank document. Can someone help me fix this so I get an actual blank document?"

Steps for fixing blank document template on word for Mac


1. Close all open copies of Word and Open Word.

2. Click on the round Office button in the upper-left corner of the window, and click Open.

3. Select Templates in the Favorite Links pane --> Normal.dotm.

4. Now delete all the text in the document, including text in any headers and footers.

Tips: Pressing ctrl + A, then pressing the Delete key is the fastest way to do this.

5. Save the file (you can use ctrl + s). You may get a warning message about the Global template having been changed. Click Yes. Then close Word.

Note: Word sometimes leaves the last directory used incorrectly set, so the next time you open or save a file, be careful that Word's pointed at the right place.
