If you want to remove Office 2008 on Mac you only have to remove two files. You can drag the files to Trash folder directly.

Delete the file from here (Library -> Preferences -> Microsoft ->Office 2008 -> Microsoft Office 2008 ->Settings.plist).

Delete OfficePID.plist you can find it following this instruction (Applications -> Microsoft Office 2008 ->Office ->OfficePID.plist).
