Stop Skype from starting automatically on Mac

The first way
System Preferences --> System --> Accounts --> select your account --> select Login Items --> select Skype --> click the "-" box below to remove it from the list.
The second way -- an easiest way
1. Hold down the mouse button on the Skype icon in the dock. (Or right click on it).
2. Uncheck
"Open at Login" from the menu that pops up.
The third way
If you will sign out of your account there will appear a dialog box within which you will find a tick box "Start Skype when my Computer starts". All you need do is untick this box.
Tips: You are certain of your password if you wish to ever sign in again to that username. If you have lost your password you may still login by taking yet another Skype username.
