Convert DVD to iPod with VLC Player
VLC media player is an free and open source software media player. You can play almost all the multimedia files you want to on most of platform.
If you're looking for the absolute highest quality in video conversion, I recommend VLC Media Player because there are many, probably too many, programs already available. Moreover,
converting to iPod video with VLC is very quick, because the encoder is only doing one pass.
Steps
The following are the steps for
converting DVD to iPod with VLC Player. If you don't install VLC, please
download it and install it directly.
1.Run VLC and the Open dialog.
Click the icon of VLC to start it, then click file and Open file in drop-down list which will bring up the Open dialog.
2.Select the DVD file you want to convert
Click Browse and select the file that you would like to convert. Now check the Stream/Save box and click the Settings ... button.
3. Setting Stream Output
The Stream Output dialog will be opened when you click Setting.
First, check the File box, then click the Browse.... Now choose the name of the file that will be created during the conversion.
Second, select MP4 under the Encapsulation method.
Third, go to Transcoding options next and set Video codec like the picture.
Tips: You don't forget type "width=320, canvas-height=240" somewhere inside the { } of #transcode{ }.
Finally, click OK, the DVD should now start playing without showing the picture on the screen. You should have an iPod compatible file when it is complete.
