Eudora Internet Mail Server Light 3.3.7

Eudora Internet Mail Server (EIMS) Light - Internet-based email server for the Macintosh platform
EIMS is a powerful standards based Internet mail server with the ease of use you expect from a Macintosh application. EIMS supports SMTP, POP3, IMAP4, Ph, LDAP, and Eudora auto-configuration (based on ACAP).

Support for filter plugins gives EIMS powerful security, anti-spam, and anti-virus capabilities. Administration is handled by an easy to use Macintosh administration program that operates over IP for remote administration..

Eudora Internet Mail Server can be configured as POP3, SMTP or IMAP mail server.

Eudora Internet Mail Server Light supports all of the features of the full version of Eudora Internet Mail Server, except it only supports one domain (with domain aliases), has no AppleEvent/AppleScript support, and no Incoming Mail folder (used by 3rd party programs to pass mail to EIMS), and there won't be a daemon version of it.

NOTE: Zip archives may not expand correctly on OS X versions earlier than 10.2, or using applications other than the OS X Finder. If you are using Stuffit Expander then you will need to use an up to date version.

Main features of Eudora Internet Mail Server:

  • The POP3 server supports RFC 1939 Post Office Protocol - Version 3, with APOP, CRAM-MD5, and NTLM authentication.
  • The SMTP server supports RFC 821 Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, with the SIZE extension, command PIPELINIG, 8bit and binary messages, and SMTP Authentication with CRAM-MD5, NTLM, PLAIN, and LOGIN.
  • The IMAP4 server (not included in EIMS Light) supports RFC 2060 IMAP4rev1, with support for IMAP4, and IMAP2 clients. Shared mailboxes are supported using aliases.
  • The directory server is a basic Ph and LDAPv2/LDAPv3 server which supports looking up users on the EIMS server, plaintext authentication is supported.

Requirements of Eudora Internet Mail Server:

  • A PowerMac G3 or later that supports OS X.
  • Full time internet connection is recommended.

Limitations of Eudora Internet Mail Server:

  • Only one domain is supported (with domain aliases).
  • AppleEvents are not supported.
  • The Incoming Mail folder is not supported.
  • There won't be a daemon version of EIMS Light.
