Grace ASCII Import Wizard - Create 2D x-y plots from ASCII files with a very high speed and precision.
gaiw (Grace ASCII Import Wizard) is a cross-platform, Qt -based GUI allowing Grace users to create 2D XY plots from ASCII data files very easily.
The idea behind is to provide an intuitive, convenient, user-friendly GUI that makes the initial creation of complex plots from ASCII data files a breeze.
For MacOSX it comes in two "flavours": gaiw2grace - calls xmgrace in the X11 environment. gaiw2pdf - which uses gracebat to completely bypass X11 and produce directly a PDF which is opend in Apple's preview, where it can be renamed and saved. For further information see included readmes.
Main features of Grace ASCII Import Wizard:freely available under an open-source licence (GPL)
runs on all Qt-supported Unix platforms. Windows is also supported by Qt, but gaiw has not yet been tested on that platform. Developers for Windows testing, make yourselves known here!
allows to create any number of graphs, each with any X and Y variable from any file ! Comparing variables across files is hence very easy.
reads all ASCII files, provided there is at least one header line with variable names
handles gzip'd or bzip2'd data files transparently
allows to predefine most common plot options (see screenshots for more detailed information)
allows to save batch commands for quick creation of batch scripts if you have to process several data files automatically
intuitive interface
