The easiest way to build a video database is automatically. When using Frameline 47, an indexing agent scans drives for video files, extracts their embedded descriptions & populates a fast SQL database.
Because the files themselves hold all the information you have added, nothing gets lost or disconnected, even when swapping files between systems. When moving to a new system, for example, all you need to do is move the files, and launch the application, everything else is automatic. Our metadata format is based on the international MPEG7 metadata standard ISO/IEC 15938.

Files on shared drives can now be dynamically locked and unlocked.
