Textris 1.0.0

Mixture of Tetris & Scrabble games.
Textris is an attempt to combine aspects of both these games into one fast paced test of your lexicon. Expand your vernacular and spelling abilities by arranging the falling letters to form words. Out last your opponent or try to beat your own high score. Textris offers a variety of options to keep the game play new and interesting.

Playing Textris is simple. The basic idea of the game is for you to arrange letters as they fall to form words. Words can be spelt horizontally from left to right, or vertically from top to bottom. A word must also be of a minimum length the be accepted. The default minimum length is four letters. However, this setting can be changed from the options.

When you form a word the letters will be removed from the playing area. You will be awarded points based on the quality of the word. Any words you have formed will briefly be displayed at the bottom of the screen in the scoring area. If there were letters above the word you just formed they will fall into place, possibly forming new words in the process.

As time passes the speed at which the letters fall will gradually increase. So you had better be prepared to think quickly! If you fail to make a word with a letter it will come to rest at the bottom of the playing area. You will eventually start to accumulate lots of stray letters. If you stack a letter above the line at the top of the playing area the game will come to an end. To avoid this undesirable outcome you do have one tool other then your intellect at your disposal. At the beginning of each game you are given one bomb. A bomb can be used at any time to transform the current letter into an helpful exploding device.
